Aging is the defining health challenge of our time, and the heart and brain sit at the core of it. The 2027 Masters of Medicine Conference, "The Race Against Time: Redefining the Future of Aging," brings together leading cardiologists, neurologists, geriatricians, researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and community leaders to examine dementia, longevity, and the brain-heart connection. Cardiovascular disease and cognitive decline share common roots in hypertension, vascular injury, inflammation, and metabolic disease. They also share a window for prevention that is wider than many realize. This two-day scientific program, presented by the Heart Institute of the Caribbean and Yale School of Medicine, will explore how protecting the heart can protect the brain and how prevention, early detection, and emerging therapies can help people live longer and live better. Day 1 opens with sessions on the brain-heart-vascular continuum and on Alzheimer's disease, from early recognition to disease-modifying therapy. It features keynote lectures on the changing global burden of cardiovascular disease and on the science of slowing aging, along with a point-counterpoint debate on aging, cognition, and mental health. Attendees can also choose between a hands-on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) workshop and a session on precision prediction, biomarkers, and digital innovation, including artificial intelligence. Day 2 turns to geroscience, resilience, and healthy longevity, with a keynote on hypertension across the lifespan and a second debate on cardiovascular prevention in older adults. The afternoon opens to the public with "Race Against Time with Asafa Powell," a public education forum on exercise, fitness, and lifelong brain and heart health, followed by a session on menopause and brain and heart health. HIC and Yale postdoctoral fellows will also present their work on cardiovascular disease in Jamaica. Whether you are a physician, nurse, researcher, trainee, health leader, or member of the community, attendees will find a rare and valuable opportunity to: Build new partnerships Showcase innovations Access new markets Get a stronger commitment to healthy aging.
